The questions every affiliate asks before they sign up. Commission timing, paid ads, payouts, taxes, and more.
Q. Why is the commission one-time and not recurring?
Bootstrapped economics. After AI costs, hosting, and Stripe fees, recurring commissions would push us into a loss on most subscribers. You get your full commission upfront on the first paid month. Most recurring B2B SaaS plans only last around four months before churn anyway, so paying upfront often nets you more in practice. If our margins improve, we'll revisit.
Q. Can I refer myself?
No. Self-referrals are detected (same IP, same device, same payment details) and forfeited. Your free BYOK account is the perk for being an affiliate.
Q. Do I need a huge audience to apply?
Not really. We care more about trust in your audience than size. A 500-follower account whose audience trusts your recs is worth more than a 50,000-follower account that posts engagement bait.
Q. Can I run paid ads?
Organic content yes. Paid ads only on non-Borker keywords. You cannot bid on "Borker" or "borker.xyz" in Google/Bing/Twitter ads. That's us competing with ourselves through your link. Paid traffic must be disclosed where the platform requires it.
Q. What if my referral upgrades from Starter to Pro?
You get the Starter commission ($4.50) on the initial conversion. The upgrade itself doesn't trigger another commission in v1.
Q. When do I get paid for a sale I made today?
On the 7th of the month after next, if your accrued balance is ≥ $25. The extra month vs. "next month" is the 30-day fraud-detection window. Below threshold, balance rolls forward.
Q. How do I get paid in Nigeria?
Two options: (1) USDC direct to a wallet you control, or (2) Jephthah receives the USDC on your behalf and transfers NGN to your bank or mobile money at the daily Binance P2P median rate. The rate used is shown on each monthly statement next to the NGN amount, so you can spot-check it. Pick whichever you prefer during onboarding.
Q. What about taxes?
You're responsible for declaring commission income in your own jurisdiction. We don't withhold taxes.
Q. I don't know how to set up an Anthropic API key. Can I still affiliate?
Yes. Your free BYOK account requires one (Jephthah will walk you through it), but if it's a friction point for your audience, recommend the Starter or Pro plans. Those don't require a key.
Q. Is there a cap on what I can earn?
No. The more you convert, the more you earn. Top performers will get higher-touch support and possibly preferred rates as the program matures.
Q. Can I become an affiliate from outside Nigeria?
Yes. The program is global. The Nigerian launch is just our first concentrated push because Jephthah is based there and can recruit and support that team directly.
Q. What happens if Borker shuts down or pivots?
We'd give at least 90 days' notice and pay out any accrued commissions. We're not planning to, but it's an honest answer.
